Do you ever feel like you don’t own your time?

As a father of two children under five, I’ve learned that the concept of “owning my time” is vague. You plan your day perfectly, but a small hiccup, like a child refusing their boots, and suddenly, you’re late. Can you relate to that loss of control?

For me, this struggle connects directly to my impatience when waiting on God’s timing.

I often see this impatience when I warm up my kids’ bottles. They lose their temper because 30 seconds for the microwave feels like an eternity. I ask myself: How many times do I behave like that with God?

Perhaps you feel frustrated, thinking God isn’t looking at you or taking too long to answer your cries.

I can’t recall a day in my life when God was late. He always comes through. Most of the time, we mess up because we go straight to complaining instead of trusting the ride and learning a few things in the process.

The Holy Spirit keeps teaching me a big lesson about this: as humans, we dare to think we own our time and can control things. Yet, the Bible reminds us in Matthew 6:25-34 that we cannot add a single moment to our lives by worrying too much.

God has proven that His timing is perfect, and you can trust him no matter how impossible things seem. We can be confident in His care, He has all the control and knows it all.
