The Unexpected Gift of Reaching Out

When life gets heavy, our natural reaction is usually to retreat. We tell ourselves we shouldcarry the weight alone, or we convince ourselves that nobody really has the time or energy to hear about our struggles.

In 1 Kings 17, two completely exhausted worlds collided.

The prophet Elijah was weary and on the run, while a poor widow was gathering sticks to prepare one final meal for her son before giving up.

Neither of them had much left to give. Yet, God brought them together to be the answer to each other’s desperate situation.

God did not send someone with overflowing wealth to help Elijah; He connected two tired people who chose to trust Him together.

That is the beauty of Christian community. When we share our lives, our simple obedience and shared faith make up for what we lack on our own.

Who is one person you can count on for prayer today? Reach out and let them in. And just as importantly, make yourself available to be that person for someone else.

You might feel drained yourself, but there is a quiet beauty in how God works: when you make space to lift someone in distress, God often brings an unexpected refreshment to your own soul.

You were never meant to carry everything on your own. Let’s Reach out, lean in, and let God bring life through the people He has placed around us.
